Until we meet at the Rainbow

Pals,

The girls and I were so sad to know that Lenny had gone on to the Rainbow Bridge. We have only now been able to make a post and hope that his hoomans will know that he is free and running with all our buddies who are waiting there now.

We stole our favorite pic of Lenny so we could always have one. :) Lenny was a great pal and we already miss him terribly.

To Kelly and Charles, if you need some Wirey love, do come to Nashville in May. I will have lots of kisses for you.

Our Brother, Harley

Our brother Harley went to the Rainbow Bridge yesterday.  We sure are going to miss him.  He was ten years old, but had been sickly most of his life.

Mom found him in Auntie's garage when he was a kitten.  He was really thin and Mom thinks he was starving to death, so she hand fed him.  He grew bigger and stronger and played with our other kitty siblings Bob and Sabrina who are both at the Rainbow Bridge now.

About five years ago, Harley caught pneumonia in the middle of the summer and almost died.  In fact, the vet had pretty much resigned himself that Harley was a goner. Our mom, thought not. She took him from the hospital and gave him IVS and hand fed him again until he was better. Everyone at the hospital was amazed that he pulled through and was all better.  They said only our Mom could have saved him.

A few months after that, Harley got out of the house right when a snowstorm hit.  We had 9 inches of snow and we were all worried sick about Harley.  He showed up 9 days later, and you know what?  He was fine.  We figured out he had gotten into a rabbit hole and waited out the storm.  He wasn't dirty or anything!  Just hungry, so he got some food and was soon fine again.

Harley was also the only cat we knew who did the following:

1.  Loved Dale Earnhart, Jr. and would tap on the tv whenever his car was in a race
2.  Never learned to wash his face
3.  Climbed up to the top of the 10 foot window to look out and have alone time.
4.  The only cat in the world I never chased.

We'll miss Harley "Bubba".  RIP 2000-2010.

working, working

Hello Pals,

Spring sprung in Metamora, and we are back in the swing of things. Again, I must go help mother and grandmother run the store. It's hard work, but some terrier has to do it. Katherine and Zorra sleep all day, so I must go make a living to support them and our hobbies.

One bright spot of working in Metamora is there are many, many things to see and do. Mother wanted to have a photo op over by the old sitting tree. OH, I managed to sit still for a moment and grace her with my photo.

We have been practicing our agility and flyball quite a bit, and we walked a few times with Auntie while she was training for the mini-marathon. We are so excited to let you know that she completed it! We are so proud. Now Mother must fork over some cash to the Indy Husky rescue for our cousin Avery's honor. BOL. Mother doesn't mind though, she is proud of Auntie, as well.

On a sad note, I recently learned that one of my mentors, Ralph, and very athletic and mischevious WFT went to the rainbow bridge. We are unsure of the details, but it was way too soon. He used to advise me on how to really make the hoomans crazy on the agility course by going right up to a jump or tunnel, then taking off at the last second to go to the corner and bark at someone. Good thoughts go out to his mom and dad and his sisters..... RIP Ralph, we barely knew ye.

We hope that we can chat, blog, and visit more often now. Mother isn't going to India and she promised not to hog the computer so much. After all, we need a voice! We'll be by to visit all of you soon.

Inspiring Dog story and video

***** WARNING You may need a kleenex *****

As you know, we love agility. We meet a lot of wonderful people and see many, many runs between dog and handler. We often hear of heart-filled stories of triumph over adversity and happy endings for all.

This post is about one agility handler's battle with her health, her Chinese-crested, and her last wish.....

Taken from a newsgroup we are on last Friday:

To all of my fellow agility competitors and friends,

Last Tuesday I was admitted to hospital, for eight years I have fought breast cancer. I have been diagnosed now with AML Leukemia and have been given approximately three weeks to spend on this wonderful earth. I have chosen not to do any more chemo as I believe I have received and given all this life has to give and take.

With the help of my dear friends in Dallas we were able to talk the Dr's into spring me out of hospital today. Tomorrow at the Dallas Agility Working Group's trial I will run my darling Chinese Crested Diva for the last time - it wont be pretty, no one will be able to guess who's handling style I will use and I don't even know myself - just staying on my feet will be an achievement and to run with my very best friend and to be among friends will be enough to give me the energy I need to get through the day.

I am thrilled I will also get to watch the veterans parade and to pay tribute one last time to all the great dogs that have helped form this sport that I so love.

If you want to do anything for me pray that Diva and I can achieve a super Q, it is all we need to become ADCH together, but even if we don't get it - I know I am blessed to share what time I have with my dogs and my friends.........

Many thanks for all your love and support over the years, I am indeed one of the lucky ones that get to say thanks in 'person' before my time.

Remember this weekend to enjoy your friends, dogs and should success come, enjoy and embrace it, if it doesn't never forgot the love of this game and the friendships we have forged. Thanks to everyone who helped me with my journey I sure do appreciate you all.

This woman got her wish for her dog to get her ADCH (Agility Dog Champion in USDAA). Here is a video that her friends made of the title run.

It's an inspiring story of the bond between a dog and their person. I thought everyone should be touched by this story.

Very, Very, Very sad.....

We were very behind in our blog reading and just learned Lacy Lulu is at the Rainbow Bridge.

Lacy was one of our very first friends in bloggerland. We are very upset and just want to take time to honor her life and all the wonderful things she said and did for other animals and humans, too. We have never met a pup who is more loving to everyone than Lacy.

Run free and happy, Lacy. You will be missed. Love and licks.

Our Cousin Sweetie

Our cousin Sweetie went over to the Rainbow Bridge tonight and we are all very, very sad. The doctor said that she probably had a stroke, and it was her time to go to the rainbow bridge.

Auntie found Sweetie as a stray who came up to the house to see our cousin, Sandy. She was flea-bitten and showed signs of abuse. Sweetie came with cigarette burns all over her body. Parts of her body had no fur. She was very malnourished and scared of everything. She needed attention badly. After a few months of care with some good food, trips to the vet and some good loving, she became much more relaxed, but still very hyper.

When she came to us, she was the ugliest dog we had ever seen. But, after she was all fixed up and healed, she was the cutest pup around.

Mother took her to her first vet visit, and they asked for her name. Mother had all sorts of names in her head, but when the doctor asked, she said Sweetie. The name truly fit her personality.

Sweetie was Auntie's Pup and they loved each other very much. Anyone else probably would have given up on Sweetie. She suffered extreme separation anxiety. She also escaped the kennel every chance she got to go hunting for rabbits. We all spent many hours scouring the country looking for Sweetie, who would only come back on her own.

Sweetie was the one who found our cousin Honeycomb, who was barely 5 weeks old and an orphan. Sweetie killed a rabbit for her to eat, and then brought Auntie to the puppy, who was living in the barn.

We know that Sweetie is at the Rainbow Bridge running and chasing rabbits and waiting for us all. Run happy and free, dear Sweetie. We can see you running and rolling and swimming now. We will miss you terribly.

If you get a chance, please go visit our cousins' blog and give them a pat on their bellies.......
