My New Job!

Hello Pals,

Sorry for our absence from Blogging. We have been busy traveling to Michigan and Ohio for Flyball tournaments. As you know, I don't like to brag (Katie here.. editor in chief, and all he does is brag!) but I have again been awarded a very prestigious award! Yes, I am the fastest wire fox terrier in U-fli for 2010.

IMAG0195

As you can see, it has named me a breed ambassador. I have dressed up in my new ambassador uniform. I have yet to receive my sash, but I am assuming that it as been ordered and will arrive shortly.

Katie here again. Zorra and I are not really sure that this "certificate" is real. Sam may have printed it off the computer himself. But, my mom said that there is an official seal. If he shows up at the next flyball tournament in that stupid top hat and tie and/or sash, I'm going to do this to him again! Just an FYI, we're pretty sure that no other wire fox terrier competed in U-fli last year............

An apology to my sweet sister, Zorra

As you know, I drew the line in the sand with my sisters over the Super Bowl teams. We had our own Soooper Bowl Pawty.

The girls had cheese hats and I sported a very stylish Steeler stocking cap.

The game was quite close and, as the time dribbled into the final moments, I became quite unnerved and "accidentally" ate Zorra's cap.

to

Then, I realized the error of my ways. And, I knew that I was in trouble. Katie, the fat cow, came over and sat on me and made me apologize to Zorra.

I must say, however, the cheese hat was quite yummy. Therefore, I am very sorry Zorra for chomping your cap. But, go STEELERS. I am the dog of STEEL.

Embarrassments from Mother

Sam here. Fresh from the groomer's with my new military cut. Everyone has been scolding my mother for having my fur cut during winter. I say that it cuts down on drag when I'm running flyball. I need to be as fast as possible, you know.

In my last installment I told you about the embarrassing story of my mother locking the Supreme Commander and herslf INSIDE the trailer. I had hoped that would be the last we would hear of that escapade.

No, it wasn't. Mother snuck out to a flyball pawty yesterday and brought home this monstrosity.

One would think an award would be a shining jewel in one's career. A small memento of a moment in time when everything came together. You are probably asking what is this ugly rock/frog. Pals, this is (an I use the term "award" loosely) is an award for the most idiotic thing of the year. Yes, mother won it for imprisoning both the Supreme Commander and herself in the RV trailer.

Zorra and I are investigating this very carefully, as you can see. I'm not really happy that mother won this award. It's not necessarily as important as the awards I won this year....

THIS is an award.

or this...

Luckily, she will award it to someone else next year. THANK goodness. My sisters and I will be watching and tabulating and will be happy to get this black mark erased from our record! Seriously, we have a reputation to uphold, even though Mother is taking this award so lightly!

We are MAD.

Ok, Mom has been busy and is a computer hog - what does that mean to us? NO BLOGGING! Well, we have been sorta busy, too. But, more on that later. Right now, Zorra, Sam and I are MAD.

Last night on our last runaround before going to bed, I did a little bit of hunting. When Mom called us in, I brought in my trophy. A nice, fresh rabbit. You know what she did? She had the nerve to yell at ME. Can you believe it?

I dropped my treasure right on the kitchen floor. Zorra and I were really ready to start snacking, but Mom made us go into another room. Sam was still waiting to go do his business and he wanted to see the prize too. He thought perhaps I would share (NOT).

Anyway, while we were all in other parts of the house, somehow Mom took the rabbit and did something with it. I have searched EVERYWHERE for my rabbit. Zorra, Sam, and I have searched the house, outside and everywhere we can think. Mom musta put it up for later, although that wasn't very nice. I worked hard for it.

So, I am going to sulk. :(

But, on a bright note Mom is in charge of our flyball team website. You can look at it by going here, if you want. We went to one tournament already and Zorra got her first Flyball title. She's pressy excited about that. I'm not racing on the team yet because I would just rather crash into other dogs and run like Nascar. So, I only run by myself or with one other dog. Sam is STILL in training, too.

We will be getting around to everyone's blogs to get caught up. See you all soon!

Knock,Knock

Hello Pals,

It has been sooo long since we have blogged. I wish we could say that we were traveling the world searching for adventure to explain our absence. But, no. We have remained home.

We went to a couple of agility trials. Oh, how fun that was!! I, of course, did splendidly. And, for a change, Mother agreed. I took pity on her for one run, and actually did as she requested. And, I made her very happy when I received a ribbon for qualifying.

Today is Abraham Lincoln's 200th birthday, and I found it quite fitting to sniff out something interesting.

And, did you know that he had a dog named Fido? Here is an old time photo of the fellow.

Rumor has it that he had the run of the house, and lived inside. But, he did not like the hustle and bustle of Washington, so he was given to a family who lived in Springfield, Illinois under the stipulation that he lived inside and was given special treats. How sweet!

Blogging and Digging

Mom has been super busy with work since before Christmas, and well... that is not great. She hasn't paid a lot of attention to us lately, and hasn't let us blog or nothing. So, as they say... idle paws are the devil's workshop.

So, what happened when mom let us play outside for the afternoon, unattended in the backyard? Sam decided to become a mudpie baker. We had a lot of fun playing mudpie baker. But, Sam REALLY had fun.

It started to get dark, and Mom called for us to come in. I guess Sam forgot to wash up like the rest of us before Mom saw him..........

Here he is trying to explain what transpired over the afternoon.

Mom was really not happy, especially since Sam has WHITE fur on his legs. You know, I tried to step in and say that Joe Stains is the king of a certain KIND of stains, but surly Sam is at least the crown prince of mud stains.

Yea, here he is.... trying to look like a good boy that just got his with mud. Nothing of HIS doing, of course.

When Mom saw HOW muddy he was, she about fainted. He had it caked all over. He had big, fat droplets of mud on him. Auntie could barely lift him up because he was so mud caked!
I told Mom that we should just get a sand blaster for him. She didn't think that was too funny. Obviously, no sense of humor!

So, off Sam and Mom went. There was splashing, yelling, yelping, strange sounds from the bath. I guess there was some really hard scrubbing going on.

But, when they emerged, Sam was back to normal. Here is is at the agility trial a day later.

We'll write about the agility trial with our next post!

New adventures

Hello pals,

Oh, we have much to tell you!

Katherine recently competed in Rally-O for the first time last week. She and mother did quite well in their first outing. They received a qualifying score, and Katherine has the first leg of her Rally Novice title. Only two more to go!

We have all been practicing hard in our agility classes. Soon, we are afraid that one of our classes will be ending, as it is held outside. It gets dark during our class time and we don't know how much longer the teacher will keep the class. BOO. We love agility! We did hear Mother talk about fencing in more of the yard, but it will be strictly for agility. NO tunnels. (BOO.) NO digging (BOO). We can only be in that section when we are practicing. She found someone to make us a dog walk and an A frame, so we are saving our pennies and nickels to help her purchase them for the spring. WOO HOO.

Zorra is doing very well in Agility, and she's going to go to an agility trial by herself in November. I dont' think that is fair, but mother said that was just the way it is. We all are going to be in a trial in December, and we cannot wait. I have been working very hard in agility so I can compete more, myself.

For myself, I went to my first real flyball class on Friday. I did remarkably well. So well, in fact, that I was able to start working on the box. I am learning how to do a swimmer's turn on the box.

I also had to start working at my grandparent's store again. They have nearly finished the renovations, and reopened the store. I spen the entire day on Sunday working, greeting people, talking with them, and generally being the best salesman ever.

Of course, most people are THRILLED to meet me, as if they have never met a more wonderful WFT. But, one of the best things was I made a new friend on Sunday. This cute little Maltese came into the store with her parents. Her name is Mable. Oh, how cute she was!! I tried to jump up to look at her more closely, but she was firmly in her dad's arms and.... if you can believe this... pretended to ignore me! Can you believe that? I wish Mother had her camera at the time so she could have taken a photo of sweet Mable.

Well, I hope that the girls and I can snag the computer away from mother more. She's always working on it. GRRR. Hope to see you soon.

HI KIDS

Hi everybloggie,

Long time no see. Well, don't blame us. Blame our MOM. She hasn't let us blog, and we gots tons to tell you.

First, we have set up a survey. You see, one of our flyball pals, the Mightly Quinn, does husky rescue with his mom. Here's Quinn with one of his kitty bros. Quinn is a good guy, he doesn't get too upset with I yell at him, or Sam body slams a greeting. Zorra really likes Quinn, as he was her first boyfriend.

Quinn's mom is campaigning to have the pup below, Avery, come live with us. Avery is probably part husky and maybe part schnauzer. Two breeds that don't listen. Mom says she already has 2 dogs that don't listen, me and Sam. BOL. I listen always, I just choose not to respond. Sam, he's just a goober.

Now, my mom is not sure she wants to have another pup here right now. She's pretty much against it, but I say.. HEY want is one more. As long as this pup minds her p's and q's and knows that I am in charge, it could be OK.

Zorra, she votes a NO. Zorra is not big on change, and this could put her over the edge.

Sam, he doesn't seem to mind as long as Avery isn't cuter than he is.

Anyway, Quinn's mom is actively supporting Avery's move to our house. Look what she did!!

I think that is supposed to symbolize how great Avery would fit in. I put a survey up near the top of the page, vote if you want. It could be fun.

We'll keep you updated, plus let you know what we have been up to in the next few days!

In the meantime, go on over and read all about Avery and Quinn, and crack baby Mickey. Quinn's mom has a lot of funny things to write about, and we think you will get a hoot out of her stories as well. You can read about it here. Tell Quinn hi for us!

Hurrah!!

Hurray! My mother is finally home from her trip to Maui. I only had time to take a quick photo of myself, but AUNTIE tried get in the shot with me... ignore her.

Auntie and I have had our difference during Mother's absence. Auntie was rather rude the other day and attempted to make me go outside ALONE to do my business. Well, I had just about enough of her nonsensical rules, so I decided to have some fun.

When she finally said I could come in, I started limping and holding my paw up in the air. Auntie grew concerned and kept searching for the reason for my injury. Of course, there was nothing wrong, but I managed one single tear to roll out of my eye. With that, Auntie immediately called Mother. I was positive that this escapade would bring Mother home ASAP. I heard Auntie tell Mother that I was injured, but she couldn't find what was wrong. My paw wasn't bleeding (I neglected to add the appropriate ketchup stain to my fur), and that I was holding it up in the air.

Then, I heard Auntie say "You must talk to him." And... MOTHER was on the phone with me. My plan worked!! Mother said she was returning home the NEXT day. Hurray!! Of course, I immediately told Katherine and Zorra the wonderful news. We all were excited!

And, true to her word, Mother DID return the next day. Although, all she wants to do is sleep. Something about jet lag??

Shakey Regime

Hi Gang,

Auntie's regime is starting to shake. I predict that I will have complete control shortly. Auntie has kept us from the computer with internet access, but I was able to break into one while she was sleeping.

Of course, we wrote to mother while she is still on VACATION. She has been gone forever....

Hi Momy,
I hop u r havin fun in Meowie. things are good here. Auntys regeeme still holds, but Samy keeps workin on his plan.
Luv,
Zorra

Hi Mom!
things are GREAT! Of course, they would be greater if you were here, but we get to go to flyball tomorrow!!! isnt that GREAT?!?!?! Auntie thought that I was crying yesterday, but it turned out there was an eyelash n my eye! Auntie got it out. Isn't that GREAT?!?!
Have GREAT fun!
Katie
-----
Mother,
I've been thinking....
and thinking.....
and thinking...
Sam

Tonight, we celebrated our friend Deeva's barkday. Auntie and Auntie Debbie took us out for ice cream. Ah, it was wonderful. I will try to hack into Auntie's phone for the photos.

Unfortunately, ice cream and custard are one of Zorra's favorite treats. She is like a crack addict when she gets any. Her eyes become very, very wide and it is all she can think about! She is still muttering about more as we speak!

It is only a matter of a day or 2 until Auntie will crumble!!

Flyball Tournament, Part 1

HI everydoggie!!

I had a great weekend. It was filled with drama, excitement, danger, drama.....

First, mommi and Auntie Sharon had signed Rubie, Yippie (Auntie Sharon's kids) and me up for a u-fli Flyball tournament. We were going to do single dog racing, and none of us had done it before. I have to tell you pals, I was NERVOUS. I wanted to do everything just perfectly and not mess up.

On Friday nights, we practice flyball with everydog, and it is always loud with everydog barking and such. All the other doggies are talking trash to each other saying they are faster and are better, especially Maverick and Katie. When they race each other, they are always barking and being very loud. I sometimes bark when Katie is barking because I always tell her that it isn't nice to say such things. They are always barking that the other "is a slow poke! BRING it on! EAT MY DUST, you pup", etc. Katie calls Mav an old codger, and then, that makes Mav REALLY mad and he says that he will be down and back before she even starts. I can't even repeat what Sammie says, and he isn't practicing flyball right now!! But, mommi says not to listen that he's just got a sailor terrier mouth. Anyway, I am digressing....

Here is a picture of another dog doing flyball, as we are still in the process of switching computers. You can see that it is very fast.

Flyball August 27 008

It started raining really, really hard on Friday and mommi was saying that there were some really bad storms coming. Sammie doesn't like these storms at all and goes into his bomb shelter behind the couch. He never wants to come out until he knows for sure that the storms have passed on by. It rang a LOT that night. During breaks in the storm when he would come out of the shelter, he was drawing up plans for making even more modifications to the VW.

It rained so much that mommi said that we might not be able to go to the tournament because it was flooding everywhere. Since we were going to take Auntie Sharon's van and RV trailer, it might be too much. But, Auntie Sharon called and said the coast was clear and let's try to go.

I have to tell you pals, I was not too keen on going out in such weather. I don't like water all that much. I don't like to go out in the rain, but mommi said to just come on or she would take someone else. Well, that would not have been fun for me!!!! This was going to be my first tournament and I just HAD to go. She was really insistent, so I put on my life vest and followed mommi on out. We said good-bye to Katie and Sam who were arguing about the modifications to the VW.

Just a short piece from our house, the water was coming across the road. I didn't like to too much and I told mommi that we should turn around. She didn't listen. We just went right on through the water! I was really nervous, but mommi said everything was OK. She said, look it is just a couple inches of water, nothing to worry about.

We had to go a long way to get to Auntie Sharon's house. I thought we were never going to get there. I kept telling mommi that, too. But, again she didn't listen. Then, we were really close to where Auntie Sharon lives. There was water RUSHING across the road. In fact, the water was going waaaaay up on cars. I tried to point that out to mommi, but she didn't listen. All she said was, "Don't worry, we are in a truck." I am telling you doggies, this water was moving fast across the street. Water is not supposed to be on the street. We weren't in the VW!! The VW has floatation devices!!! And, I don't think our truck did! MOMMI, don't do it. MOMMI, this truck isn't a Johnny boat!!! STOP. That is as wide as the M-i-ss-i-ss-pp-i Riber!!

We went across the river that was rushing over the street. I just knew that we were going to get washed away and end up in the ocean! Mommi calls me a worrywart, but someone had to be!!! Mommi was being very foolish. Oh sure, there were all these other vehicles going through the water. Do you have to do everything everyone else does, mommi? Mommi kept saying that the water wasn' t that deep yet and we were going through it. It was only a few inches. Finally, we got across that river that was like 1,000 miles wide. We went another million miles to Auntie Sharon's house.

Auntie Sharon lives on hill, and she has an agility field down below. We looked over and saw that the agility field was just an island and the water was rushing like a zillion miles an hour into the lake. I was just glad that we were way up high on top of the ravine!

Auntie Sharon and mommi said it was time to get going, and I had to get into a crate next to Yippee. I was not happy being in Auntie Sharon's van, in a strange crate, without any of my stuff AND having to sit next to Yippee. I just stared holes into my mommi's back to let her know how unhappy I was! Everydog knows I don't do well with change!!!

So, we started the gazillion mile ride to Illynoise. I will be in this crate furever!

Sorry for the lack of photos, as mommi forgot her camera. :(

Part II coming soon.

EARTHQUAKE

Hi everydoggie,

Man, oh man, we had an earthquake this morning, and we didn't know WHAT was going on. I was havin' dreams about chasing rabbits and eating. I woke up with a start!

We live in the midwest, and we hardly ever have one. But, we had a shakin' house this morning. We aren't used to those earthquakes like our doggie pals in California and other places. So, we was scared for about 5 seconds.

Here is a photo of me from the earthquake cam... Wow, I was really shakin'.

DSC_0012a

My mom was trying to tell me that we are all ok, nothing even fell. But, I think that earthquakes are very dangerous. I went and checked all the stuffies and chew toys to make sure nothing happened to them.

I am on alert for any more earthquakes, so I will be prepared.
