Embarrassments from Mother

Sam here. Fresh from the groomer's with my new military cut. Everyone has been scolding my mother for having my fur cut during winter. I say that it cuts down on drag when I'm running flyball. I need to be as fast as possible, you know.

In my last installment I told you about the embarrassing story of my mother locking the Supreme Commander and herslf INSIDE the trailer. I had hoped that would be the last we would hear of that escapade.

No, it wasn't. Mother snuck out to a flyball pawty yesterday and brought home this monstrosity.

One would think an award would be a shining jewel in one's career. A small memento of a moment in time when everything came together. You are probably asking what is this ugly rock/frog. Pals, this is (an I use the term "award" loosely) is an award for the most idiotic thing of the year. Yes, mother won it for imprisoning both the Supreme Commander and herself in the RV trailer.

Zorra and I are investigating this very carefully, as you can see. I'm not really happy that mother won this award. It's not necessarily as important as the awards I won this year....

THIS is an award.

or this...

Luckily, she will award it to someone else next year. THANK goodness. My sisters and I will be watching and tabulating and will be happy to get this black mark erased from our record! Seriously, we have a reputation to uphold, even though Mother is taking this award so lightly!

Athletic Endeavors

Ahhh, hello mates.

Yes, again, we have been MIA. But, I must tell you that since our last meeting I made my flyball debut with outstanding results! However, I am sure my dear friends knew that whatever I do, I do with style and success.

Over the July 4th weekend, I went with my flyball team to Sandusky, Ohio and the Fur In A Blur tournament. This was my debut to run on a team. Of course, I walked in with my usual self confidence. I was measured in to determine my jump height. You see, since I am one of the shorter members of the team, it is imperative that I am measured properly. I came in under 16 inches, so it was a thumbs up.

I shared the height dog spot with my dear friend Scrubby, an older Sheltie. Scrubby has many trick to relay to me, but every time I tried to talk to him about his experiences, he was off to find a treat from one of the hoomans.

My mother, sigh... oh, she tries. However, she ruined 2 of my runs by making a mistake. I guess she should have had more training. Luckily, the other hoomans are assisting her.

Pals, I ran like the wind every time it was my turn. I raced to the box, grabbed the ball, and raced back to the end. Unfortunately, no one was able to document my historic runs, and we will have to wait until Auntie can attend a flyball tournament in October. I have another tournament next Sunday and I am sure I will set the place on fire.

In an earlier tournament a couple of months ago, I was running a single dog race all weekend. Oh, it was fun. I raced against other dogs. It was extremely exhilarating. And, not only was I recognized for my sheer speed and stature, I also received a very special award. I received a reward for "Most Unusual Dog." I was ill prepared for my acceptance speech, as I did not even know I had been nominated. Before I knew it, MY MOTHER went to accept the reward on my behalf. WHAT?? In the introduction, I briefly heard them say something about "We're giving this award to Sam, the wire fox terrier. None of us have ever seen a wire fox terrier do flyball. They are a rare breed in this."

Well, hoomans.. OF COURSE I am a rare breed. I think hey were just so amazed at my talent and sheer athleticism that they had to honor me. Everyone seemed to be quite pleased with their selection, but I feel I was a shoe-in for this award. What do you think, friends?

As a result of my racing skills in Sandusky, I have new initals after my name for my flyball title, FDX. After all, Zorra is only an FD in flyball. LOL.

Until next time,

Sam

Thanks!!!

We certainly have been neglectful of our pals, but have been tweeting a bit lately. But, training for agility and flyball has been a pretty high priority for us.

A few weeks ago, Zorra and I went to a flyball tournament and Zorra won her first Flyball title. It was very, very exciting! She was racing with three other dogs and did a great job for her first time. Sam and I went for moral support. I raced, but I raced just against another dog. I wasn't on a team. Sam is still in training, and didn't race at all. He was just along for the ride.

Two weeks ago, Auntie took Zorra to a flyball tournament with the team in Chelsea, Michigan. Zorra was pretty nervous since she was away from Mom and me. But, she tried really hard for Auntie. Zorra liked being with our Auntie Sharon, who also is one of our agility instructors. They all stayed in Auntie Sharon's RV and had a great time.

Last week, Zorra, Sam, Mom and our Auntie Becky all went to Henry Illinois for a U-fli tournament. We didn't run on a whole team, but I ran with another dog, Max. We ran pairs. We raced against another pair of dogs. We didn't win, but we chalked it up as a learning experience.

Zorra ran in single dog racing and had a personal best time of 7 seconds. Mom was very excited. In a week, we are going to Hastings, Michigan for a Nafa flyball tournament. Zorra is racing, and we are all going for moral support. We can't wait!!!!

Awards, etc, missed barkday

Our pal, Thor, gave us this toadally cool award!! WE love it. Especially, since we love toads. We would love to pass this on to all our pals, but we have to pick a few:

Lenny
The Barkalot Boyz
Lacy Lulu
Marvin

It is really snowy and icy tonight, and I love it. IT was toooo dark for my mom to take photos, but maybe she will tomorrow! I look really pretty running around in the snow. I just love snow and cold weather!! Zorra never wants to go out in the snow and ice. Mom needs to get a photo of her in her little pink coat. BOL.

Sammy... he just barks at the snow. He's such a goofbrain.

We were way behind in our blog reading because Mom has been working that we missed Gussie's barkday. So, we made mom make him a cake. Happy Barkday Gu, even if we are late!!

Freezing Friday

Hi Bloggies,

We are getting ready to hunker down for the big freeze that may come this weekend. Zorra is already dug into her blankets and says she's not coming out until SPRING! Sam and I don't mind the cold all that much, but I'm sure my mom will make me wear that stupid coat when we go out, since it is supposed to be way below zero.

We received a great award from Jake and JH, The Bark A Lot Boyz and we are truly honored. They seem to believe we are thinkers. Well, I know that I am.... not too sure about the others. BOL!!!

Here are the rules attached to this award:
1. You must write a post with links to 5 blogs that make you think.
2. Acknowledge this post.
3. Optional: Proudly display the 'Thinking Blogger Award' with a link to the post that you wrote.
4. Go tell your humans to fork over the treats and attention!

We are awarding this to

1. Cricket, Sparky and Ginger for their support and thoughtful wishes on Sam's journey to the Stain Mecca.

2. To Joe Stains for being the Minister of stains and erasing it all from our house and our mom's memory. Since Sam isn't in so much trouble for "staining" all the time, it is a happier world. Enjoy this award again, Joe as you save Sammy's (HBO WORD) butt.

3. To Peanut and Flash for helping us keep the soldiers in our thoughts.

4. To Amber because we are hoping to come see you on one of our trips once we get the VW back from JFK.

5. To Hammer for always keeping the faith that his brother will be found!

Tomorrow, we are braving the weather with our cousin Calvin to go practice agility. We hope we don't freeze our (HBO word) butts off. BOL. My mom is gonna get me for using these words, but I think its funny!! She always says those words when its (HBO word) cold!
