Catching up

Hello Pals,

Just sniffing around to say hello. We have been pretty busy having a lot of fun lately, and haven't taken time to blog.

We went with our flyball mates to a demo in Brown County, In. It was the Dawg Gone Walk and Fiesta. We had a GRRRRREAT time showing all the other pups how flyball is done. It was raining and misting a lot during the afternoon, but that didn't stop us. We went out and did our stuff. Not only that, we got dirty! Woo hoo.

There were some pawsome games to play too at the Pet Walk. They had the best barker, which my mother entered me in right away. However, when we got around the other dogs, I didn't care for what they were saying, and decided if you can't say anything nice you should just keep your trap shut. Although my mother kept prompting me to bark and carry on like a hooligan, I refused. Finally, she asked me if a cat had gotten my tongue. RUBBISH. DaKota (our kitty sister) was not even along for the ride, how could she have taken my tongue? I decided not to even bring that to my mother's attention, as she seemed to be overtaken by competition. My astounding silence finally got through to her, and we left. As soon as we walked away from the competition area, I immediately turned around and told all those other dogs that they were just too loud.

Mother allowed us to enter other events. We entered the Sneaker Sniff, where we had to find a hot dog bit in the middle of a bunch of shoes. Zorra was very good at that, and had a fast time of just a tiny bit over 3 seconds. However, she was not the fastest sniffer. Some other dog beat her out.

We also entered the Fastest Fetch event, which we were timed on how fast we could bring a tennis ball back. Well, pals, I was very fast, of course. I came in second and got this swell medal. I was robbed from first place by my flyball teammate, Spirit. She beat me only because she had longer legs!

The ground was so wet that we were muddy from head to toe. Mother was whining that her shoes, socks and feet were wet. I say.. wash and wear like mine, Mother!

This past Saturday was a special treat for all of us. We got to meet our pal Lenny and, now, Axel's mom Kelley.

She allowed me to jump all over and give her tons and tons of smooches, as that is what we WFTs do. Katie was quite taken with her, as well. It was so delightful after all these years of blogging to each other that we were finally able to meet face to face.

Kelley had come to Metamora, IN to do the Towpath 10K Dash with my Auntie. Well, Kelley ran, and our Auntie walked. Mother was lazy and sat on a bench and waited for them both to finish. We spotted Kelley when she was walking over to us, as we were the only 3 dogs at the finish line, so she spotted us right away. I immediately knew who she was and started smooching her right away. She was so nice and I told Mother that we should meet up with her and Axel soon.

We had a grrrreat time Saturday morning, but the fun wasn't over. More in a later post!

Until we meet at the Rainbow

Pals,

The girls and I were so sad to know that Lenny had gone on to the Rainbow Bridge. We have only now been able to make a post and hope that his hoomans will know that he is free and running with all our buddies who are waiting there now.

We stole our favorite pic of Lenny so we could always have one. :) Lenny was a great pal and we already miss him terribly.

To Kelly and Charles, if you need some Wirey love, do come to Nashville in May. I will have lots of kisses for you.

Our pal Roux

Hi mates,

Listen, my pal flyball pal Roux has a new website. He's really big into flyball and also has a huge head. Roux isn't conceited, he's just got a huge head. He's a Staffie, and he is THE MAN for flyball. He's quite a nice bloke, though. This chap has given me some great tips on running on a flyball team, like never give up your tug until you are ready to race. It keeps you focused!

Anyway, if you have time and want to see a new dog on the block, go see Roux as he talks about flyball and his cute friend Cruz and Torhq. Big Head Roux

Vicious rumors!!

We found that there are vicious rumors circulating a website regarding mom. Well.... click here. My mom is getting blamed for something that well, she did cause. BOL.

As you know, we just couldn't take Avery right now. Even though Mom really, really wanted to add Avery to our family. :( We are still in the midst of training Zorra and Sam in everything and, well, I just don't have enough time to make sure those 2 pups are where they need to be! Of course, I would have loved another pup to raise around here.

I mean, really, if Mom had just done as asked, then Avery's mom wouldn't have had a mental breakdown or something. We sure are sorry about your mom having a carnival freaky headache from banging it against her desk. We told Mom that it was HER fault, and she should accept the blame. But, our mom is clueless. She refuses to accept that responsibility.

We say get a grip! Avery's mom - you are over on the darkside now with a terrier mix. But, we're here for ya, Avery. We can be cousins.

We can even bring the flyball jumps we have up sometime for you to practice on. Sam just started flyball and he thinks he is wicked fast. Not as fast as me, of course.

We think your mom is doing a great thing by getting you into obedience training first, Avery. You might not like it at first, but think of all those treats you'll get and all the alone time you'll get with your mom. We're here for ya, Avery. And, Mom decided that in your honor, she will pledge to Auntie's marathon walk money to the Husky rescue. (Well, she's actually hoping that will cause your mom to take the voo doo pins out of the doll she assembled to look like Mom).

Peace out, Cousin Avery. We can't wait until you send us pics like these....

Two headed dog?

We went over to wish Tanner a happy barkday, but it looks like some sorcerer cast a spell on Joey and Tanner? What the HBO word happened? They look like they only have 2 heads now. Let's hope that Joey will remain in charge.

Maybe they are auditioning for the next Harry Potter movie?
Anway, Happy Barkday Tanner. We hope you have a good one, and can overcome this dilemma.

HI KIDS

Hi everybloggie,

Long time no see. Well, don't blame us. Blame our MOM. She hasn't let us blog, and we gots tons to tell you.

First, we have set up a survey. You see, one of our flyball pals, the Mightly Quinn, does husky rescue with his mom. Here's Quinn with one of his kitty bros. Quinn is a good guy, he doesn't get too upset with I yell at him, or Sam body slams a greeting. Zorra really likes Quinn, as he was her first boyfriend.

Quinn's mom is campaigning to have the pup below, Avery, come live with us. Avery is probably part husky and maybe part schnauzer. Two breeds that don't listen. Mom says she already has 2 dogs that don't listen, me and Sam. BOL. I listen always, I just choose not to respond. Sam, he's just a goober.

Now, my mom is not sure she wants to have another pup here right now. She's pretty much against it, but I say.. HEY want is one more. As long as this pup minds her p's and q's and knows that I am in charge, it could be OK.

Zorra, she votes a NO. Zorra is not big on change, and this could put her over the edge.

Sam, he doesn't seem to mind as long as Avery isn't cuter than he is.

Anyway, Quinn's mom is actively supporting Avery's move to our house. Look what she did!!

I think that is supposed to symbolize how great Avery would fit in. I put a survey up near the top of the page, vote if you want. It could be fun.

We'll keep you updated, plus let you know what we have been up to in the next few days!

In the meantime, go on over and read all about Avery and Quinn, and crack baby Mickey. Quinn's mom has a lot of funny things to write about, and we think you will get a hoot out of her stories as well. You can read about it here. Tell Quinn hi for us!

Jackson

We're all thinking about Jackson right now. We are still thinking positive thoughts that he will kick this thing in the arse!

Wednesday, July 9, 2008

Hi everybloggie,

I don't know about you, but I am tired of Sam's whining about a job. I have to work EVERY day, not just Saturday or Sunday. After all, someone has to keep all these pups, humans and kitties in line!

Besides celebrating July 4th this weekend, we also had a dog agility trial. Let's just say that it didn't go well, and... well, mom doesn't even want to talk about it. We all did horrible.

But, hey.. it was HOT on the day we went. Who wants to run when it is hot? Not me! After all, my breed is from Canada and I like it cooler AND rainy or snowing. That is my optimum time!

Sam didn't mind running around like an idiot in the heat. But, what really got mom going was when he spied 3 of our friends across the field and went over and stared at them through the fencing. He was trying to get them to come over and play. But, they didn't. Anyway, mom had to go pick him up and carry him off the field. Oopsie.

We are going to another trial this weekend, and our Cuzin, Calvin, is making his agility debut! We are all very excited about that. Calvin says that he will out perform that little shrimp, Sam.

Don't tell Zorra, but we are going camping, too!! Hurray! That is GREAT. I LOVE camping. We are going with our agility pals Deeva and Duffy. We are going to have a great, great time. Zorra will probably stick like glue against mom's leg like a big baby. She doesn't think camping is GREAT.

We told mom that we would try to do better this weekend, but not to have her paws crosses. BOL.

Off to Blue and Snowball's Birth/Barkday Pawty

We are off to the big Pawty. Zorra tuned up the VW and installed even more "green friendly" devices to make our journey safe for both us, and the environment.

I put the VW on autopilot and we are all going to rest to be sure we are in tip-top shape to meet our friends.

The trunk is filled with birth/bark day presents!

We even remembered to bring the barkday cards!

For Blue:

For Snowball:

We are so excited to see our friends and have a great time at the Pawty!!

Are there any others out there in DWB? Am I the only one? I'm off to search.....

If anydog sniffs out another Toller on DWB, bark me up.

New Pals, agility, and an AWARD

Hi Everyone,

We wanted to introduce you to 2 new pals we made recently. The first one we met through our hooman pal, Blue. His name is Hero and you can visit him here. He's a nice pup and is new to DWB, so pop on over and give him a sniff.

Our other new friend is Stanislaw. Go walk by his site and see what he is up to.

We are going camping this weekend, and Zorra is glad. Do you know why? Because we are going with our Auntie Sharon who has a CAMPER, and we won't have to sleep in the tent. Now, I do enjoy roughing it, but Zorra DOES NOT. She hates camping and prefers the finer things... like a bed... a roof... and more than a few millimeters of plastic between the outside world and herself.

We are going to a CPE trial in Dayton, OH. Mother finally agreed that I can participate in more than one event. I shall show everyone my expertise and technique that I have refined over the last few weeks. Oh, will they be in awe!

And, thanks to all you who voted for us in the cool site of the day. We were the Cool Site of the Month for February!

Now, I must go oversee the packing of our van and supplies. I am certain mother will forget something vital, like food, stuffies, treats.... Of course, she can forget Katherine, and I would not cry. BOL.

Friday Friends

Hello Pals,

I am going to continue on with the Earthdog practice, and introduce you to some of the new pals I met. They were all great sports, and although some did not enjoy Earthdog as much as I, we all loved sniffing and meeting up with each other!

Here were a few pups we met right off. I didn't catch their names, but we were all getting to know each other.

bark, bark we love to dig!

This was Bean. She REALLY liked going into that tunnel after Mr. Rat.

Her daddy was always saying Get 'em Bean

Here is my new friend Tavish. He wasn't sure about Earthdog. Although he liked Mr. Rat, he was not too keen on going into the tunnel. Silly boy. I showed him how, but he would rather find another way to talk to Mr. Rat.

Tavish

I met my new pal, Willie, here. He just retired from the show ring, and now he could do all sorts of fun stuff, like Earthdog. I was questioning him about the care of his coat, but he said no more worries about that now. He can get dirty and doesn't have to go through that nasty stripping process any longer. Hurray for him.

How do you do?

There was absolutely no way Willie wanted to be separated from Mr. Rat. He was saying how much he enjoyed Mr. Rat's company. His mom and the Earthdog Man were trying to reason with him, as you can see.

Mine, I tell you.. Mine

Shadow, a Manchester Terrier, is our long-time agility buddy and he told us about the Earthdog Practice. Here he is with Mr. Rat. He brought his cousin Aries and aunt Lilly.

Shadow

Aries is a Min Pin and Lilly is an All American girl dog. She did NOT care for getting near the rat, nor getting dirty.

Lilly... Ummm. not going after that rat. nope

We had such a good time there. We can't wait to try it again. We are going to try to figure out how to get the video up and running so you can see me go into the tunnel.

Now, we are off to read what you guys have been up to. We are WAY OUT OF TOUCH!

Earthdog Dog Primer I

Hello everydoggie,

Again, I must apologize for our absence. Our mother will NOT relinquish her computer for any amount of time, and I fear that Katherine, Zorra, and I will need to hold a bark treat sale so we may purchase our own!

At any rate, some of you were asking about my experience with Earthdog and what exactly it is. Well, here is the "official description" of this sport:

The purpose of non-competitive Earthdog tests is to offer breeders and owners of small Terriers and Dachshunds a standardized gauge to measure their dogs' natural aptitude and trained hunting and working behaviors when exposed to an underground hunting situation. The noncompetitive program begins with a basic introduction to den work and quarry and progresses through gradual steps to require the dog to demonstrate that it is willing to perform the required tasks including seeking its quarry, locating and working it underground.
- AKC

Quarry for EArthdog is a typically a rat. Here, you can see I am getting acquainted with Mr. Rat. We became fast friends, of course. I wanted to follow him everywhere.

dsc_0515

Hello, Mr. Rat. I find you very interesting and very intriguing!!
dsc_0527

Mr. Rat... I am not sure you should go into this tunnel-like thing. I should try to stop you.

dsc_0567

You are just insistent on going in there, aren't you. Well, I shall follow....

DSC_0571

Here I come, my new pal! It is a little snug, but I can crawl in right behind.
DSC_0590

DSC_0627

THERE you are, my good friend. That was fun chasing you through the tunnel.

DSC_0630

I certainly had a good time, didn't you?

dsc_0634

(note: No rats were harmed in this practice. In fact, they could care less if the dogs were barking and chasing them at all).

Enough for today. I have much more to tell you, including how I went down in the ground tunnel for my new pal!

Our wanderings and excitement

I don't have much time to post, as Mother is not at her computer right now. But, I DID want to share with you one or two of the things I wish to blog about this week.

I went to an Earthdog Practice and had a delightful time! I know that A+A do earthdog and cannot wait to tell them.

Also, I met two other WFTs. Even mother made friends with Willie's mom and she invited us to a WFT show at the end of May. Mother said that we may even attend. Oh, I am so excited to see others like me!!!

Here we all are together. That's Willie, me (of course) and Joey. Willie had just completed his confirmation and still had his show fur. Of course, I am au natural and Joey looked quite dashing with his stripped coat. We were all waiting to play earthdog and have a grand time.

I will write more about that later. I believe I hear my mother returning!!

Friday's short post

Our mother has been working long hours (again!) and we have had no time to visit our pals, or blog much. But, she promised that we could catch up this weekend on everydoggies activities.

Our pal Blue sent us this to answer a few weeks ago. So, we decided to do a collective answer.

Five things on OUR to-do list:
1. Eat treats
2. Sleep
3. Sniff
4. Run
5. Play with our mother

Five Snacks WE enjoy:
1. Homemade jerky
2. Auntie Sharon's special liver treats
3. cheese
4. small bits of hot dogs
5. Peanut butter filled Kongs

Five Things I would you do if I was a Billionaire:

1. We would build a big place where all our doggie friends could come and play and do agility and flyball and other things with us.
2. Start a trust for other rescue dogs to find homes
3. Buy a real limo so we can travel to agility trials in style
4. Have an endless supply of treats!
5. We would travel EVERYWHERE with our mom, since we would foot the bill!!

Five of OUR bad habits:

1. Barking at every sound
2. Pouting when we don't get our way
3. Chewing things we shouldn't
4. Tearing up things we shouldn't
5. One of us in particular puts STAINS in certain places....

Very, Very, Very sad.....

We were very behind in our blog reading and just learned Lacy Lulu is at the Rainbow Bridge.

Lacy was one of our very first friends in bloggerland. We are very upset and just want to take time to honor her life and all the wonderful things she said and did for other animals and humans, too. We have never met a pup who is more loving to everyone than Lacy.

Run free and happy, Lacy. You will be missed. Love and licks.
