Catching up

Hello Pals,

Just sniffing around to say hello. We have been pretty busy having a lot of fun lately, and haven't taken time to blog.

We went with our flyball mates to a demo in Brown County, In. It was the Dawg Gone Walk and Fiesta. We had a GRRRRREAT time showing all the other pups how flyball is done. It was raining and misting a lot during the afternoon, but that didn't stop us. We went out and did our stuff. Not only that, we got dirty! Woo hoo.

There were some pawsome games to play too at the Pet Walk. They had the best barker, which my mother entered me in right away. However, when we got around the other dogs, I didn't care for what they were saying, and decided if you can't say anything nice you should just keep your trap shut. Although my mother kept prompting me to bark and carry on like a hooligan, I refused. Finally, she asked me if a cat had gotten my tongue. RUBBISH. DaKota (our kitty sister) was not even along for the ride, how could she have taken my tongue? I decided not to even bring that to my mother's attention, as she seemed to be overtaken by competition. My astounding silence finally got through to her, and we left. As soon as we walked away from the competition area, I immediately turned around and told all those other dogs that they were just too loud.

Mother allowed us to enter other events. We entered the Sneaker Sniff, where we had to find a hot dog bit in the middle of a bunch of shoes. Zorra was very good at that, and had a fast time of just a tiny bit over 3 seconds. However, she was not the fastest sniffer. Some other dog beat her out.

We also entered the Fastest Fetch event, which we were timed on how fast we could bring a tennis ball back. Well, pals, I was very fast, of course. I came in second and got this swell medal. I was robbed from first place by my flyball teammate, Spirit. She beat me only because she had longer legs!

The ground was so wet that we were muddy from head to toe. Mother was whining that her shoes, socks and feet were wet. I say.. wash and wear like mine, Mother!

This past Saturday was a special treat for all of us. We got to meet our pal Lenny and, now, Axel's mom Kelley.

She allowed me to jump all over and give her tons and tons of smooches, as that is what we WFTs do. Katie was quite taken with her, as well. It was so delightful after all these years of blogging to each other that we were finally able to meet face to face.

Kelley had come to Metamora, IN to do the Towpath 10K Dash with my Auntie. Well, Kelley ran, and our Auntie walked. Mother was lazy and sat on a bench and waited for them both to finish. We spotted Kelley when she was walking over to us, as we were the only 3 dogs at the finish line, so she spotted us right away. I immediately knew who she was and started smooching her right away. She was so nice and I told Mother that we should meet up with her and Axel soon.

We had a grrrreat time Saturday morning, but the fun wasn't over. More in a later post!

Today is my Barkday!

Hi everypup!

Today is my birthday. Well, as far as Mom can tell. I don't remember when I was born, but she thinks it was probably around May 14, and that date was one of her good friend's birthday who passed away, so she thought it was a good tribute.

I am having a great day so far, and the best thing is Mom and I are going to agility practice! Woo hoo. She said I could have some custard on the way home!! I am so excited, 2 of my favorite things in one day. What a lucky girl!

WE have been practicing flyball really hard, as we have a big tournament in 2 weeks. I am going all by myself with Auntie. Oh no... mom can't go, but she said I could go if Auntie took me. I hope Auntie is up to the challenge. We are going all the way to Michigan. I have never been there before. I hope Auntie knows the way!!

Here are some new friends I met last weekend, too. I went with my mom to work, and we took a walk. Theys guys were strange looking!!! But, strangely, they reminded me of ... me? At least the ears, huh?

I wasn't too sure about them, but I got a little closer to see if they were pups or what! They had long ears and collars, but man, are they bizarre looking. They also didn't smell like pups.

Then, this one told me she was a G-O-A-T. Well, I am not sure what that mean, so I just looked at her funny. But, they were nice. I will probably go see them again next time.

Anyway, happy barkday to me!!

working, working

Hello Pals,

Spring sprung in Metamora, and we are back in the swing of things. Again, I must go help mother and grandmother run the store. It's hard work, but some terrier has to do it. Katherine and Zorra sleep all day, so I must go make a living to support them and our hobbies.

One bright spot of working in Metamora is there are many, many things to see and do. Mother wanted to have a photo op over by the old sitting tree. OH, I managed to sit still for a moment and grace her with my photo.

We have been practicing our agility and flyball quite a bit, and we walked a few times with Auntie while she was training for the mini-marathon. We are so excited to let you know that she completed it! We are so proud. Now Mother must fork over some cash to the Indy Husky rescue for our cousin Avery's honor. BOL. Mother doesn't mind though, she is proud of Auntie, as well.

On a sad note, I recently learned that one of my mentors, Ralph, and very athletic and mischevious WFT went to the rainbow bridge. We are unsure of the details, but it was way too soon. He used to advise me on how to really make the hoomans crazy on the agility course by going right up to a jump or tunnel, then taking off at the last second to go to the corner and bark at someone. Good thoughts go out to his mom and dad and his sisters..... RIP Ralph, we barely knew ye.

We hope that we can chat, blog, and visit more often now. Mother isn't going to India and she promised not to hog the computer so much. After all, we need a voice! We'll be by to visit all of you soon.

Holidays, etc.

Hello Everyone,

First, the girls and I would like to thank everyone who has sent us Christmas cards already! We are having such fun at mother. We have received close to 20, and... how many have you received, mother? What's that you say? NONE? Zero, Zip. BOL.

Well, we have been very busy with the holidays. First, on Thanksgiving, we took a delightful 6 mile hike with Auntie and Mother. Auntie and the girls had not been on this particular trail, so I was delighted to show them the way. Zorra, there is a very good scent here... see?

And, so we started on our quest to hike the trail, 6 miles round trip. The trail goes along the canal. Part of the old canal tow path is now a railroad.

Zorra and I were walking with Mother. It takes two of us to watch her. We have a long way to go! So, let's get moving.

Auntie and Katie seem to have a difference of opinion on where to go. Here's a clue.... the trail continues straight!

Those two led us along until we reached the end of the track, as noted here. But, it wasn't the end of the trail!

We saw a lot of things along the trail, like this old piece of farm machinery. Of course, I had to bark at it.

Mother decided this was a perfect time for a photo shoot. Oh, how dimwitted she is at times. First, she made ME sit next to Katherine. Blech....

Katherine was more interested in the birds, than getting her photo taken. C'mon. The faster we get our mugs shot, the faster we can go sniff!

Did someone say treat? Do try to stay awake, Katherine!

Katherine has the attention span of a GNAT. LEAVE THE BIRDS ALONE!

OMD. NOW, SHE'S LOOKING FOR SQUIRRELS! We will never get the perfect shot.

I grew tired of those slackers, and now, I am off on my own trailblazing trek!

See you soon!!

Hiking, Hiking, and lots o' sniffing

Hello pals. Guess what.. this week, instead of working, mother and I went on a trail walk! Mother always wanted to walk a newly dedicated trail, the Whitewater Canal Trail in Metamora. We were in Metamora for a function that evening. But, we weren't working. Just mother and I went this time, but Katie and Zorra are coming the next time we go.

Come on!! Let's go!

Here is the start of the trail. It is a bit over 5 miles round trip. I was anxious to get started.

I met many strange creatures along the way. This was some kind of a sheep head stuck in a straw bale.

Then, we noticed it was part of something called a "corn maze." It is this common thing amount midwestern hoomans that happens during Autumn. They find it necessary to design mazes through cornfields and then try to get lost in them, as they "find their way out."

Here are some hoomans shelling corn with an antique sheller.

This little girl is trying her hand at roping the sheep head I described earlier. She wasn't very successful, but tried anyway!

We finally came across a map to tell us where we were. Not very far yet, Mother. Let's go.

Mother grew up on a farm and Grandfather always refers to this as "money." Looks like corn to me??

Along the trail, I hought I hit the mother lode. TENNIS BALLS!! Until I bit into one. Blech. Over ripe crab apples.

Finally, out of the cornfields and into the woods. OHHH the smells!!

MOTHER THERE IS SOMETHING OVER THERE!!! Let's go!!

Mother said that it was time to walk back as we had to go to our event in town. Booo. Also, she wasn't taking as many photos. We had hiked about 4 miles and SHE was getting tired.

So, we walked past the money again....

Mother, the trail seems to have gotten longer. Carry me.... WHAT? NO? Well....

Look one of the canal horses... perhaps he will give us a ride??

Mother just kept walking and we finally made it back to Metamora. It was good to see Grandmother and Grandfather at their store. More about the "event" in a later post.

Festivities

As you know, we all have to go to work with Mother on the weekends in Metamora. Now is a fun time since all the stores are decorated for Fall, and some are decorated for Howloween.

Here's Katie in front of Grandmother's store. Mother decorated the store outside with all sorts of things.
This old house next to us is also a shop. If you click on the photo, you can see they put a graveyard in their front yard!! We are not sure if it is real or not. We are not sure where they got all those bodies, but they are lying out all over the place! I must remember not to poo in their yard!

Scaredy cat Zorra got brave and went to talk to this Zombie. I'm not sure what they are talking about, but I didn't want to know!!

Here I am next to these huge pumpkins. These would have made great pies. I hope that mother remembers that and gets to baking! I am really in the mood for a PIE.

My trip to Metamora

Hi everydoggie,

First, today is our bloggerversary. It has been one entire year that we have had our bloggie, and made such great pals. Thanks to everyone for being our buddies and saring your doggie lives with me, Katie, and Sammie.

Sammie wrote about his trip to Metamor last week, and I am going to write about mine now. I love ti when mommi takes me with her to work. But, this time, mommi was sitting outside and that is not the way it usually is. normally, she sits INSIDE working with grandma.

I was sitting outside and mommi had a nice blanket for me, but I was still cold. I was still shivering, and when mommi asked me if I wanted to go inside, I said YES. It was nice and warm in there with grandma, and I greeted everyone from behind the counter. I got lots of pets and treats that day. i really loved it.

I met lots of other puppies, too. mommi and i were walking around, since i needed to stretch my legs. guess what I saw?? TWO, count 'em TWO wire fox terriers walking on leashes, next to each other.. with ALL THEIR PAWS on the ground. mommi and i couldn't believe it, and we decided that we had to meet them and tell them about Sammie.

We caught up with them and found out their names. They were Lilly, who is 4 years onld, and Phoebe, who was 11.

Mommi asked their mom and dad how the 2 pups could walk through a crowd on all 4 legs. Their mom and dad just laughed. We told them all about Sammi and Katie and all the activities that we all have. Lilly's mom was amazed that Sam did rally. She said that she might try Lilly in obedience (mommi and I laughed). Or, rally.. or maybe even agility!

Phoebe is a rescue like us. Actually, her original mom passed away and now she has a nice home with a lot of love. They were very nice and were actually not obnoxious like Sammie, that is for sure.

I really enjoyed working with grandma, especially. I love my grandma the bestest.

My job

Tomorrow, I must go back to work. My two week vacation is over. I will, again, be forced to do menial labor.....

I'm forced to take my breaks on the bare floor with no food, drink, etc. Woe is me.

HEY, who took that photo. Well, obviously, this photo was taken after I contact the WFT shop dog union.

I have made some new friends since my last post. Here are my friends, the Duckys.

They talk ALOT, more than I do. I always want go have an intelligent, in depth conversation with them. But, everytime I rush to their sides, they jump into the water and swim off to the other side of the canal. I am sure that this is just an initation into their exclusive club, and soon they will welcome me with open wings.

I also like to do my part by promoting photo-ops so all the tourists can stop and take my photo next to certain landmarks of the town. Here I am flashing my award winning smile in front of some flowers in town. I am a very good ambassador for Metamora, IN.

Here is one of the doors into our store. Since I am a buyer for the store, I have incorporated several dog related items and we will add more this year.

As you can see, my work is never done. After all, I must support Katherine and Zorra.
